My 2000 Nissan Maxima SE,The Winter Beater....picked it up super cheap last winter(kind of old news).. didnt need too much for safety:full brakes, muffler(rusted out,ill get to later, lol),side marker..But has gotten bit my the rust bug! Got all OEM brakes/muffler,picked up some smoked side markers for all 4 corners. Did some basic rust repair/cover-ups,since i had the black paint, painted the wheels black too.Quickly found out the "amazing" BOSE system took a shit(the Z's BOSE lacked also),pick up a new audio deck and got a Fusion Subwoofer and got the windows tinted to complete the Black'd Out look. All of this was done last year...

This year, after doing normal maintenance (tire rotation, oil change, check brakes, ect, ect) I thought it was time to try and figure out my Check Engine Light,i did a quick OBDII check at the end of last year before the Z was on the road and it showed and O2 senor error, didnt really look anymore into it till this year. Turned out to be my Post-Cat o2 sensor, didnt really rush out to tackle it. couple of days later, my exhaust got really loud...took a look, and the pipe by the rear axle rusted threw and popped out(later turned out rusted out in two spots),Being the Winter Beater didnt really wanna spend too much on this repair.Looked up the cat-back OEM exhaust which would put me at around 300$ before shipping (rock auto)....soo did some poking around, not too many choices out there for the Maxima but came across a no-name Ebay sale for a cat-back exhaust and for an extra 25$ get a ram air intake "kit"..SOLD,200$ to my door. My Mechanic skills are basic at best, actually quite poor, haha, but happy to learn and take on the challenge!

7 Hours Later, some bloody knuckles, couple cuss words and ALOT of rust....done! The air intake fit quite well, and got rid of that ugly air-box...The N1 ebay special Exhaust(think it suppose be based of the Greddy one, not sure..) fitted..ok....well... cant even say ok, BUT it did fit/lined up so-so....granted it did come with new bolts/gaskets which was nice, cus most of the bolts had to be grinded off... even tho it was a pain in the ass, felt good to do it all by myself,in the parents garage on jack stands. BUT wait there's MORE! i knew the exhaust was gonna have some flaws being a cheap ebay special, said it was the direct fit for the 2000 Maxima, BUT turns out it doesnt have the post-cat o2 sensor bung....Yay!

Tonight it was time to tackle the 02 Sensor problem! I did a little research and found a neat trick/part to my problem... Since my welding skills are next to non (one class in highschool, wasnt great then) and didnt feel like trying my luck with it now, I found that AEM makes a No-Weld o2 bung "clamp"! I quickly found out that drilling a 7/8th hole in stainless steel pipe wasnt as easy as planned...picked up some cheap Carbide drill bits from Canadian tire, and started small and worked my way up...4 Hours Later,i have my hole, took another hour to set up my O2 bung and install my new O2 Sensor!

Your winter beater build is more extensive than most peoples year round cars. Sticker bomb a fender and throw some Illest stickers on there and you're golden!

Personally, I prefer bluetooth. Pair with my cell and I have Spotify, easy peasy.
