    Thunder Bay Area Drift Events

    Hello everyone.
I'm located in southern Minnesota and I'm planning to make a trip up your way this summer and I was wondering if there were any local drift events I could attend.

If not, I would love to help put one together, if there is enough interest. I'm part of a local group that usually hosts several events each year. So let me know what's up.

    Thanks

    Interesting................

I am sure there are a shit load of people who would love to either see or attend a drift event. I can tell you that we have never had one. The closest thing we have to a drift event is our local auto slalom events which you would be more than welcome to enter

I have an RX8 that I don't really use anymore and an RB Swapped 240.
We do most of our events at circle tracks and am/pro-level kart tracks.
Is there anything like that in the area?

    Currently awaiting paint and stuff.

Unfortunately we have nothing like that here, no circle tracks or kart tracks. The only track in the area is a dirt racing track that's been used once in the last 10 years. Most of us head down to Minnesota for any sort of racing, mainly MAP Proving Grounds twice a year.

IC yea Proving Grounds is a real sh*t show for drifting. We try to hold events that are all about the drivers. We focus on helping out new people and making the events as affordable as possible. We normally use any spectator fees to pay for the venue so its cheap or free for drivers. Where do you guys usually autocross or slalom at?

Re: Thunder Bay Area Drift Events

I think the main issue will be location, and getting enough people out for it to happen at all. There are only a hand full of people with cars capable, and even less that don't mind blowing up/wrecking their rides for drifting. We don't have the population/access to cars/locations, or the climate that attracts people to it.

We autocross in a local car dealerships parking lot, and a few special venues that changes every year. The parking lot quality is... rustic

I think Marc Sacco is the person you have to talk to. If its affiliated to the Thunder Bay auto sports club, and on someone elses property... $$$ for insurance.

I would love to see an event like this happen, don't get me wrong. But for Thunder Bay, it seems unrealistic.

If this some how happens in Thunder Bay, I will pay to be a spectator. My FWD won't be any good, and I don't know what I'll be driving come spring. Perhaps a RWD parking lot beater will happen?

Can't afford to travel 6-8 hours for these automotive events anymore, I got bills to pay.. lol
We need to keep putting pressure on Thunder Bay to bring cars here and not let this city become a retirement community.
