By no means am I saying an SR is a bad motor at all, I'm just saying for the money you can have more power out of a KA and it will be more reliable because everything is fresh. Granted you do it right.

Re: Half in the Bag 89 240SX drift build

Doesn't even have a turbo yet, already offers to sell me turbo accessories lol.

I found a S13 Silvia RHD front clip cut from around the middle, so its a full RHD conversion too for $3100 USD. So, not a bad starting point for SR20 swap when I would have everything and then some.

So that's the baseline I'll try to work towards in the summer but for now, KA24E is rocking its shit till it kerplodes.

I was looking over the car yesterday and from what I can see, I need to mount the rear seats, find a passenger seat, replace the cat, patch the frame rails, and new rotors.

One of the rear lugs is snapped as well so I gotta weld on a bolt to use an impact to get it off so I can toss the bored out Prelude wheels on for safety.

I also found a set of 15x8 +0 offset 4x113.4 all satin black BBS RS replica's for $430 USD, if my calculations are right they should fit within 0.5" from stock size, also found some 205/50R15 Nitto NeoGens (recommended to me by ZupanskyD) for $84 USD each for the front and the back wheels are getting dumpster dives cause I'm burning them off anyway.

Lol, no it's not bolted on, It's not even mine, it's from an S14 that was just sitting at Franks house. I was holding it there but ducking down so you can't see me.. But it might get a huge wing like that, the truck is all rusty now and it won't open, the latch is seized closed and the new cable is broken so I mean.. what better way to fix a broken trunk then to add a huge wing lol

Or you can buy the RB25det I will be selling (In Thunder Bay). Will come with everything but transmission.

2.5L inline six turbo good for reliable 400hp on stock bottom end, (don't go turbo KA as you will crack the stock pistons ring lands after 2000km)

    Will need the following to swap;

RB to 240sx chassis engine mounts
    transmission
    custom driveshaft
    custom downpipe
    longer throttle cable
    intercooler
some wiring mods (extending certain sensors etc)

Save on the shipping costs, poor exchange rates, and the HST if you buy from those shady Montreal/Toronto engine shops.

Re: Half in the Bag 89 240SX drift build

I don't plan on replacing the engine until the stock KA24E is done, so it's not going to be for awhile since I won't be pushing the car hard at first, it's also not going to see the road until it's nice out so there's quite a ways before the engine is even looking to be replaced. I was just stating that the currently end will be replaced "one day" and it kinda took off lol
Just for curiosity sake, what would you be looking to get for the RB25?

The stock KA24E in it runs fine, there's some lifter knock but anything to be expected for a beat on, almost 200,000km single cam which is known for crank vibration issues at high RPM, it's not exactly a sound engine so there will be issues, but as of now, it runs and drives fine.

I don't remember if I made a lift for safety, but so far it needs a tie rod, some rust patched, cat replaced, new rotors, and then the clutch needs to be bled.

Anyone know where I can find a cheap AGM battery? Canadian Tire had a sale on them, $150 with 10% off, then later found out it was starting at $150 and 10% off only applied to 5+ year warranties so it was actually $300 plus tax for the 240 battery. Found another one on CarID for around $200. After the AGM battery in my truck, I want nothing else, it works every single time, absolutely no maintenance, it's perfect for the 240 so every winter I can just leave it, give it a quick charge in the spring and it's good to go.

Re: Half in the Bag 89 240SX drift build

Ring lands will crack Eh? Clearly doesn't know a thing about KA's. With properly gapped rings they are perfectly fine. An rb25 could be cool but I'm not a big fan honestly.

Also stop saying "when this engine does" that single cam will probably never die in your life time man haha. There is absolutely no reason why it would. It's freshly rebuilt. And the only reason why the lifters make noise is because when single cams sit for awhile the hydraulic lifters start to bleed out and they are making noise because they aren't properly bled. You can pull the lifters out, bleed them and put them back in within a few hours. I did it before.

Also, KA's aren't that poorly imbalanced. They just didn't come "balanced". That doesn't mean they rattle themselves apart or can't handle stock limiter all day long. The only cars that never break at drift days are the ones with stock KA's lol

Re: Half in the Bag 89 240SX drift build

Okay, to get this back on track lol. The plan is to work on the KA24E, figure it out, drive it, feel the balance, get used to it, and when it holds me back (as opposed to when it kerplodes), I'll upgrade to to something else instead of rebuilding. For now, what was included with the car is a HUGE 3" exhaust with a giant ebay muffler (I think the tip is like 4 or 5 inches), which after watching youtube sound clips, it actually doesn't sound too bad so I'm going to keep it. The cat is missing and it's going to be replaced with the ISIS fake cat (race pipe that looks like a high flow cat). The rear seats are staying in (for now) and once I've successfully got away with being allowed to have this car and I'm allowed to sleep in the bed again, I'll start taking out interior bits here and there until I have a rear seat delete. I'll tell her it's to make it functional, she won't believe me, but that's what I'm going with.

I plan on getting some racing seats, cause slideways in stockers sucks, a family friend works at Lakehead Ironworkers and he's putting a cage into his Barracuda, he said he would help me out on the price to have a cage welded in when it's time for one, or rather, when an event requires one.

I've decided to bite the bullet and just weld the diff, Tim's drive thru can deal with hopping 240 for my no cupholders. Should be interesting. I've also noticed that almost every video I watch of drifting at night, you either can't see anything, or the idiot has HID's in their reflector housing, so I'm going to look into a light bar mounted far enough back that the bumper rebar will protect it when I wreck, which will happen, don't you worry about that.

Getting some 15x8" 4x114.3 BBS reps and 205/50-R15 Nitto NeoGens, I can't remember what I've already said I intend for this project, just listing what's currently decided.

I have decided that as much fun as squealing tires and reving KA's sounds, I'm putting in a stereo, going to run head unit, 6.5" 2 way speakers up front, and 6.5" (may get upgraded to 8") subs where the rear speakers are normally located in the parcel shelf (since there won't be a rear seat for long, don't need speakers back there)

Already plan on drilled and slotted rotors because they look cool, calipers are already painted red for the extra kilowatts, and I may do a race cluster in the center console full of switches and gismo's that make things happen like fuel pump and ignition power. Mostly the stuff required for some tracks.
