This may be a bit of a far stretch but what if everyone chipped in to buy a small piece of land either in town or out and we can build our own lot big enough for the autox. This way, every year it's the same place and then you won't have to keep searching for a new place. Maybe get some vendors to pop in during events to help money. We could also ask for sponsors up front to help pay for the land? Just a thought. I'm guessing the issue would be the money it would cost to purchase and pave the land lol But just a thought.

Do you have a million+ to help get this off the ground that we don't know about?

lol I wish! Again, just a thought. Not sure how much land would cost and all that. It just seems rather difficult to find a decent place. Besides, everyone was saying how they'd love to have their own tracks and what not in Tbay.

Just tossing this out there. Why don't you get a hold of Wes in terrace bay and put on a 2 day autocross event at the drag strip?
The air port is only used for helicopter landing.

Why does terracebay drag fest have to be the only car event going on there?

    Re: PAX Index for Autoslalom

We looked into doing terrace bay 2years ago. At that time they didn't want the extra stress and didn't like the thought of the club putting up the insurance for our event at there event. So the only way would be if they had there insurance cover it while the autosports club run it....lol ya right. The terrace bay group doesn't know the autosports group that good to stick there necks out for us

Thoughts for bigger lots are......look at running on holidays, we had an informal "ok" to use northwood mall lot on one of the holidays where the place is shut down but......it never was dug into.

I know there's probably a reason we don't use this one but what about the CLE/Silver city lot?

    Re: PAX Index for Autoslalom

The board of directors that control the CLE grounds are not very receptive to having an autosport event on their parking lot. The club ran events there a decade ago but people went racing on the lot after hours which ruined it for everyone - from what I've heard. We have approached them over the last few years and are slowly trying to get our foot in the door. If anyone has connections on the CLE board please PM me.

They have bylaws against any motorized vehicle activities in their lot, no Shriners with their little bikes, no drivers Ed allowed for both cars and bikes no nothing. To change that you have to convince everyone on that lot like the silver city guys and the bouncy guys and all them. Then they can change the bylaw.

that's a rather odd bylaw. Isn't that lot private property?

University lot is full of posts, it's open 7 days a week, the residence are very close by and there is usually a good amount of traffic traffic. It just wouldn't be possible. Pretty much any big public/common lot that you can think of has been thought about but there has been some limiting factor in using them.
