    Autoslalom at Test & Tune

The Thunder Bay Autosport Club is working together with the Superior Classics Car Club to hold a combination test & tune drag racing and autoslalom event on the weekend of June 27 & 28 in Terrace Bay. In order for this to happen they need to meet their pre-registered amount of 60 cars for the drag event by the end of May.

With this in mind, if this is a go - we must decide when to run the Autoslalom part of the event. We have two options:

    1. Saturday evening after drag racing stops (approx 6pm) and run on the main drag strip after the glued 1/4 mile section
    2. Saturday or Sunday afternoon while drag racing is happening and run on the secondary air strip (intersects the main strip at half way) which is a bit narrower then the main strip. To access this section cars dragging on the main strip will have to temporarily stop

What would the people attending this event to slalom prefer to have?

    UPDATE: It's official - Test & Tune is a go with 66 pre-registerations.

In my opinion the secondary strip is a horrible spot. There is more grass growing through that than on my front lawn. Im not tryin to bud in but why wont they let you do it on the south end. Like where the spectator entrance is? Like i said i'm not trying to start an arguement. But i would almost rule out the secondary runway..

That's where the drag racers will be parking their cars. Also, the section where they usually do the car show at Drag Fest doesn't have that great of pavement either. Personally, I think right on the main strip would be our best bet. They also need to keep the helipad open by law (Drag Fest is the only exception).

Marc can you get pics of both sites and see which one is better to set up the course? I would prefer Sunday afternoon so people can just drive there in the morning and drive home after the races but if the secondary strip is crap we may just have to go with the Saturday evening

I think if you want to grow your auto cross members you should do it after the races on Saturday.
That way the drag racers are shut down and they might take there golf carts down the track and watch you guys. Maybe spark an intrest.

If your doing it same time as the drags no one will watch cause there busy with there cars.

What ever you do don't let it look like your moving in on the drag racers turf. For the first one you might want to lean towards the secondary air strip and then let the drag racers kinda pull you in and let you run the main strip

Yea maybe do the 2nd air strip. The racers might complain that the auto x cars have coolant and or might ruin the track... (not saying they will.but some people&#128545 but still do it after racing. Then people will come watch. And might impress the car club with turn out

Id rather do the early afternoon, drive out in the AM and back before dark..... Wasnt there talk about using the other side of the secondary strip,if i remember at the meeting, where a hanger is/was? where the drags wouldnt have to stop it let us in/out,that meets up with their return road.

Question: I won't be participating in either due to shitty tires but am I still able to watch?
