Re: Classing Discussion for 2016 Autoslalom

All seem to have Pro's and Con's..even our current treadwear system... but iam leaning towards #2 with PAX or #3 with/without PAX...

-#2, we deff have enought FWD cars and RWD cars, but there are only a small hand full of AWDs that come out to most events (last ACE lot there were 4 awd cars),all depends how the AWD group feels about running a smaller class group. Deff have to have PAX with this one,no way i can run with the BMWs without PAX, ahaha.
-#3,kinda the same problem at #2...got quite a few in the Perfomance and Street Mod class, but very few for the Stock Class....granted having a stock class maybe more inviting for first timers, most poeple that want to run thier cars have some kind of mods done, so that doesnt work either.

What ever is choosen at the Next meeting when it is voted on, will deff be interesting and fun to TRY something out for a year and see how it goes.

Yes, you're right, Kelly. Each system has it's pros and cons. Drivetrain system (#2) could work, although the AWD class wouldn't be huge. SCCA classes (#3) is nice to see an essentially stock class encouraging the average person to come out and maybe take home a trophy - but I'm not sure how many practically stock cars we'd have consistently participate. Most people that autox are also into modifying cars. MAP Proving Grounds categories (#4) could work too, it rewards the highly modified cars with their own class to compete in, but again, it's not a large class. Even our current treadwear system has been a ton of fun this year but is impossible to expand into a 3rd class. Decision, decision....

Re: Classing Discussion for 2016 Autoslalom

Just a little food for thought, here is another system. As you upgrade your car and acrue 'points', you are bumped into the next class once you reach a set points thershold. Therefore, a stock or near stock car would start off with little or no points and be in a stock or street class. Very fast stock cars (ie. a vette) would have a set amount of 'base points' assigned. As you add performance parts and rack up points it determines which of the, in our case, 3 potential classes you would fall in.

Re: Classing Discussion for 2016 Autoslalom

So the new way of classing breaks down like this not including mods

    Shawn miata C Class
    Jon Nelson Miata C Class
    Kelly 350Z C Class
    Sacco Integra E+7 Class
    Matt Harrison speed3 E+7 Class
    Adam Swan celica E class
    Charles EVO X B class
    Al Hjorth 350Z c class
    Joe Desousa miata C Class
DAnny Massaro bmw Swagon E class
    Jordon Vettereli Dart E class
    Mike rothenburger Neon E+7 Class
    Lin Civic E Class
Mike Rossi bmw 330i D class??
    Kevin WRX D Class
    Dan BMW E46 m3 C or B class???
    Dave STI B class

    Larry STI B Class
    Tremblay civic e Class
    MAtt monkhouse miata C Class
    Tyler Balyk G35 D Class

So broken down by classes that gives us

    B Class
    Charles
    Dave
    LArry
    Dan?

    C Class
    Shawn
    John
    Kelly
    Al
    Joe
    Dan?
    Matt

    D Class

    Mike
    Tyler

    E Class
    Sacco
    Matt H
    Adam
    Danny
    Jordan
    Mike Roth
    Lin
    Justin
    Tremblay
    Jessly

Just need to get it down to 3 classes then everyone can figure out how many points they get from mods.
