Still just a short term fix though.

TRAFFIC: Water Street improvements begin MondayCITY HALL

By Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.comMay 6, 2016 – Improvements to Water Street are scheduled to begin on Monday.
City officials, in a release issued on Friday, said the work will include milling, paving and manhole, valve and catch-basin leveling. It’s expected to take eight days to complete and will result in daytime lane closures during construction.

The road will be fully reopened at night.

The city said the restoration is a short-term solution for the badly deteriorated route until long-term infrastructure projects are confirmed.

It’s believed the city is waiting to learn whether or not an event centre will be built before committing to long-term Water Street repairs.

The project is the first of two phases. The first phase will be conducted between Villa and Cumberland streets, while the 2017 portion will be done between Pearl Street and Red River Road.

Motorists are reminded to use extra caution and obey all traffic signs.

Do they really need to masquerade it as an events centre now that the feds won't be paying for it?

Now if only they would do Balmoral next, that road is equally as bad between William and Central

They're doing Balmoral as well, but in three phases because apparently it costs more due to the storm drains costing more. They'll do the section from the bridge to the expressway this year adding multi purpose trails on both sides of the street
