It was cheaper to buy an entire car than it was to buy two used OEM headlights off eBay

Re: Project: 2002 Fresco Passat Avant

Parts car is home, car runs and "drives" so that's pretty sweet, needs an axle, loud knocking noise but it moves under it's own power just fine.

Picked up a B5 Passat AEB high flow head and intake manifold from Andrew

The intake runners are about 1.5x larger than the factory AWM ports so that should open up some nice top end power with the K04 over the winter.

The car was doing way too well, no issues, nothing was going wrong so it was time I fucked shit up (I bought these because they were green and matched the car, no other reason)

Stupid 225/40R18's make it look like a monster truck, I still have an inch of drop front and back

The lowest point is the belly pan which less than a key fob from the ground, little under an inch, about 3/4ish

I'm going to be making a metal skin pan which should actually gain me some ground clearance, gross, and because of that awful news, I ordered some 205/40R18 tires which should give me enough reduced diameter and stretch to drop the coils the last inch of threads to bottom them out completely and then I guess I might be content, but for now I'm basically driving a lifted truck here with this much ground clearance.. useless

Almost as unforgivable as getting a B platform car. FUCK THAT FRONT SUSPENSION SETUP.

Who thought it was a good idea to put 4 ball joints on each side?

Expensive Volkswagen, same front end setup as a B7 A4/S4/RS4

I just picked up my new tires, going to install them tomorrow

Hopefully this will make it clear enough so I can drop it another inch

As far as tire brands go, I highly recommend Nankang, same tires Chillyssa bought for her Mazda 3, after we drove that thing to Montreal and back on those tires, lower and stiffer suspension with 18's, they were smoother than the factory 17's it had on it, very nice ride, even with how much negative camber it has, they were very low road noise which is weird for negative camber, tires usually get louder the more camber you have, it'll also step the tread too but so far after about 15,000km since that trip the tread is looking like new still, they're super stable in the rain on the highway, I'm talking like 140km/h in the pouring rain on the 400's without pulling or swaying, they love negative camber, and they're an XL tire so the sidewalls are reinforced for the extra load over the sidewall (aggressive camber). They also mounted on her wheels really nice too, didn't fight me the entire time like these god damn Pirelli's, I'm not looking forward to taking these Pirelli's off.. ugh..

    Out with the old

    In with the new

Comparison of my tiny little tires

Doesn't rub at all now, so much room for activities, just gotta wait for my lower rear shock bolts to come in and I'll be dropping it another inch

I'm also just going to clear this up, not saying Nankang are the best end all tires, they're just really good for budget tires and I'm astounded they have lasted more than 15,000km with the amount of tread left with how much negative camber the Mazda 3 has, they're really good for the price range, highly recommended for ruining your car and having money left to take a cab when the car gets stuck on a leaf. Totally worth it!

Those tires come with a 40,000 mile tread life warranty from Nankang.
