mike i know we talked about it before, but after seeing the full rundown I'm thinking the rods must be a likely culprit. the factory machining on the offshore rods is known to be problematic, wouldn't be surprised if the big ends were out of round to begin with. i think the only influence the pankl's would have had is possibly contributing to this distortion.

do you have a plan for this car going forward?

It's possible. I suspect the bearing was eaten first, then the failure. Whether it was ultimately caused by a bolt failing or the big ends being oval on that rod we'll never know.

People are doing a lot more with the 5 speed Neons now. I'd like to still be one of them, but there's no formula here. No shop backing this. No tuner. It's pretty much 20 bucks a hit when you factor in the tires, fuel, and clutch and at around 150 hits a season... The community is full of assholes and people asking how to route their vacuum lines. I'm burning out. You should see all the ACT stickers I have.

I have another toy I'll gradually sink money into, but if this car can be race ready I will race it.

I thought we talked about this at PG, you're selling this cursed car and going V8.

Need 15-20k for it and won't have the money until April.

So stop spending money on the neon and start saving for the V8. Or maybe torch the neon for the insurance coin.......

No saving for anything. Neon is already paid for, and without it I wouldn't have anything to do next summer.
