    Not feeling vtec kick in

Hey everyone, just finished a mini me swap on my civic, and all works well. scanner shows vtec activation but dont really feel any extra kick? Is the difference not that noticable or could oil pressure be to low and not high enough to activate cam movement? thx for any help. using 5w30 right now.

well after some further testing, and dragging the gears out slowly i can hear a "note " change around the 5000 rpm range, which is when the activation is suppose to happen. and def pulls strong upto 6800rpm.

Vtec transition is supposed to be seamless. Depends what motor you're running.

It is a y7 block just rebuilt 2 years ago, y8 head and intake, also have header, and exaust, guess I was hoing for more of a kik, considering the y7 is only rated 106 hp and the y8 is 126. with all the mods done was hoping for more, looking into the jet chips and modules for reprogramming. and my car is auto.

The crack in the neck is people on crack and over emphasized. My RSX-S was mostly noise.

Re: Not feeling vtec kick in

i did look for that and didnt see 1. ive read that not all blocks have them. so I hooked up a manuel switch to the solenoid that opens the passage in the head to lock the cam and it def changed idle, always when the engine was cold, but when i tried it when the engine was hot, no change, guessing that the hot oil was not creating enough pressure to lock the 3rd cam lobe , but hoping at 5200rpm theres enough pressure.

No you don't want to hook vtec up to a manual switch you actually want to hook it up to your horn push button on the steering wheel it's way awesomer
