    S40 trans

so I found I believe a 2000 civic ex at the scrap yard, good condition and expected to see a D16y8 under the hood, but its not, Its a y7. (im guessing here but it had the down draft intake and I didnt see the vtec solinod either) It had a S40 trans in it and was wondering if thats the same as the si? but also read that the S40 is a good trans. open to thoughts and info plz.also read about B000 or A000 on the trans, were do I find those letters?
    thx

so I am figuring all this out twith wiki and google, the ex is the s40 which has the shorter gear ratios, i just dont get why there was a y7 in there?. did they matt a sporty trans to the less power engine?maybe extra $ for engine upgrade when first bought and didnt get it?

Without reading into D series engines... What do you want to do?

I would do your manual swap with whatever you have on the go right now and leave it at that... Or get on board with a B series swap.

100hp, spending cash on a trans with shorter gears is a waste of money in my opinion.

There is a member selling a B18B on here for $150 ish... Find a trans for another $100 ish and call it a day.

Also, the sir came with a B16A2 I believe... Not an Si

    Re: S40 trans

appreciate the advice Tremblay, But i built this motor with a buddy and Its gonna last along time (hope I didnt Jinx myself), have so much after market D stuff , would just seem like all i did was a waste, I know In some peoples opions the D is a waste of time but to each there own. more info, the ex i found im thinking has a taller trans gearing, "E5F" is the same as a dx and lx just different FD ratio. so still looking for a y8 trans. And we both know theres more to a swap then gettin a 150$ engine and a $100 trans, and poof its done.LOL

    Re: S40 trans

So I found a D series manual trans from a 92-95 civic, and apparently it has a stage 3 clutch. is this going to be to much for a engine with just basic bolt ons? thx.
