Front mount has too much boost loss for the tdi. That tiny turbo would struggle to fill 2.5" pipes. The taco intercooler uses stock sized piping.

I was pretty confused the first time I ever heard a diesel, I thought it was broken.. Was also curious as to why Kemar didn't turn his car off for like 4 hours straight "it's a diesel" but wont it burn a bunch of gas idling "it's a diesel.." yeah but "it's a diesel...."

    .. Fair enough.

Mine sure used lots of fuel idling when I locked the keys in it one day. I think like a quarter tank over 3 or 4 hours. But that was with the autotragic though, so maybe that's why.

I dunno the front wheel drive under steer characteristics would turn me away from a vw...

It's probably better than a BRZ for oversteer...

    Oh

    Snap...

But really, I think it's handles better than the VR6 overall. I want it to a tad stiffer, but not a whole lot I can do. I'll get unit to weld some spring steel on the rear beam. Between that and the extra rear weight it should have more power off oversteer than the Golf and the Jetta.

    Results:

It lowered the IAT during normal driving nearly 10 degrees C. I didn't notice any boost loss, still spikes to 22PSI and hits limp mode. It does get as hot as the stock one did, about 66 degrees C, but it cools down much faster and settles around 46C, compared to the stock one which sat around 54~57C.

It has much more torque at lower RPMs, like 1500RPM it takes off like it did at 2000RPM before with the old intercooler.

    Next upgrade, brakes
Current brakes. 11" rotor, pads barely grab the rotor. I haven't re-greased the caliper pins, so I'll try that this week. The wagon uses the same brakes as the Golf, despite the wagon weighting in about 500~700lbs more.

VR6/1.8T brakes are a nice upgrade, but they require the VR6/1.8T hubs for that. I'm on the lookout for them. 11.3" rotor, much thicker rotor, bigger caliper, pads grab way more of the rotor.
